Microtransit
You may have heard of microtransit: bus lines that serve an area instead of a specific route, but cost the same as a regular fare while delivering a faster travel time—a futuristic hybrid between public transit and ridesharing. Remix lives on the cusp of new transit planning software, so I futurecasted new product feature: how to create microtransit routes, while applying Remix’s current design system.
This futurecast provides a lens into how a new product feature for Microtransit could be introduced using the existing design system. If Remix can help transit agencies move away from pen and paper planning, it can also help them prepare for the future. Outcomes of this project:
4 year futurecast that considers exponential trends and potential variables
New tools for users to update stops, paint new routes, and highlight areas
Journey mapping existing workflows in order to meet users where they are and convert existing fixed-route services to microtransit as a means to reduce cost
